Breaking Bad - Season 1 [DVD] [2008]

In my opinion Breaking Bad is one of the best TV series of the last few years, playing on the twisted needs of a high school chemistry teacher Walter White. When his life is complicated when he is diagnosed with cancer, inspiring him to use his knowledge to cook up crystal meth with one of his former students, Jesse Pinkman. Ok, so that's the essence of the plot. What brings it alive in the dark pathos of the events, the dry humour of what happens, and the general saavy take on one man's predicament from director & creator Vince Gilligan. Think of the X-Files crossed with the Wire and you're nearly there.
