LG 32LD320 32 inch HDTV-Ready LCD TV or how I entered the 21st century
Before I start talking about this TV I should create the scene. Since 1998 I have been using an old TV/video combo. This means that it was big in all the wrong places (depth rather than width) and the image was occasionally fuzzy. I didn’t mind. I’ve never been one for modern technology and didn’t think I needed a new telly. I certainly didn’t feel I needed a HD ready 32” LG TV. And what the hell was freeview?
But then my trusty box broke down…
LG 32LK330U 32" 3D HDTV-Ready LCD TV
To LG or UE – THAT is the question
After hours spent talking to different sales people and working my way up and down the shop isles I had settled on one of two TVs. The LG 32LD320 which is 32 inches, includes HDTV (so is HD ready) and has an LCD screen, or the UE 19C4000 which is 19 inches and also has an LCD screen. And they both had freeview.
The UE19C4000 is cheaper and normally that would be enough to steal it for me. But I was going out of my way to step into this century I should have entered a good 11 years ago. And so I paid attention to the details…
Let’s compare
- The UE19C4000 has a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels whereas the LG 32LD320 has an image resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. I didn’t think I’d be able to tell the difference – but I can.
- UE have gone all out on style which means the UE19C4000 is attractive even when turned off. The LG 32LD320 matches the UE in style when off and then blows you away with the invisible speakers when turned on.
- And finally the UE19C4000 is easy to use. LG electronics have taken that a step further by not only making the LG32LD320 32” simple. They use something called picture wizard so I can choose how I want the image to display with the use of 2 buttons.
What’s an extra £100 right?
“£100 is two weeks of food!” I hear you all shouting. True. But if you can spare the extra then it can also be an additional 13 inches, a higher resolution and a better audio/visual experience. I bought the HD ready LG 32LD320. The extra money seemed a small price because now I’ve finally joined the 21st century I intend to use my LG 32LD320 well into the 22nd!
Oh and as for freeview – I have no idea how I ever did without it!
