The best shoe - Sketchers vs Caterpillar

I’m used to buying a pair of trainers, wearing them out to a party a few times whilst they’re new, to work occasionally (dress down Fridays), and then for every occasion imaginable.  This means I need the sturdiest of shoes.  If this sounds familiar then this guide might help you decide which brands are durable and value for money.

Skechers Talus Ultimatum shoes – a shoe that lasts

With the word ‘ultimatum’ in the title I found myself coming to these shoes with instant high expectations for durability.  And I wasn’t let down.  The Skechers Talus Ultimatum are made from canvas leather which makes them ideal for all outdoor situations.  And they look awesome.

Manufacturers often fall down in one area when bringing out a sustainle pair of shoes – and that area’s comfort.  It seems the stronger the shoe, the more painful it is to wear.  But the Skechers Talus incorporates a padded collar and tongue to protect the upper foot (which I found very useful when reaching high shelves at work) and the lining inside is a soft fabric.  Skechers Talus have even got a cushioned insole.  In fact, I had no blisters from the get go!

Caterpillar Transform shoes – the suede contender

Now here is a tough, working man’s shoe.  Designed like a boot cut off at the ankle, the Caterpillar Transform shoe can be used for long periods of time through most conditions without showing any signs of wear and tear.  They are probably stronger on the outside than the men's Skechers Talus Ultimatum shoe but not quite as comfortable on the inside.  The 4 tie lace up the front adds to the comfort and the stitching makes these shoes pretty contemporary.

The Caterpillar Transform breaks a convention rarely broken.  It is a shoe which is both strong and durable whilst remaining highly fashionable.

For those of you who like Caterpillars Transform shoes but would prefer the boot design carried on past the ankle I found the Caterpillar Peril Boots a powerful contender both in strength and fashion.

All great shoes but which one is for you?

The choice is down to the individual I guess.  Personally I loved the Skechers men's Talus Ultimatum for the look and for the comfort, but fashion is in the eye of the beholder.  Caterpillar Transform shoes and Caterpillar Peril boots are sturdy but slightly more costly.  And each one of these shoes will solve the lifelong problem of ruined trainers just days after purchase.
