Tips to buy a quality vacuum cleaner!
Compared to the other consumer durables, not many are aware how to buy a good vaccum cleaner that does all the job for you. Most of them look alike with vibrant colours and great designs.
Lets take a look at the features that you need to make a note of, when you plan to buy a vacuum cleaner.
- Your requirement - Though vacuum cleaners are multi-purpose consumer product, some of them cater to your specific needs with more attachments. You have a choice for robo vacuums, upright vacuums, canister vacuums, central vacuums, stick vacuums and light weight small vacuums. Use them at home, office, cars and stores. You don't need long handle heavy vacuum cleaners, if you are using it for your car. The same applies if you require a vacuum cleaner, just to clean the upholstery of your sofa sets. Instead, you can use a small light weight vacuum cleaner with less power.
- Do a trial use - Before your final purchase, do a trial use at the store, to ensure all fittings and attachments work well.
- Return Policy - Check whether there is a provision for returning the vacuum cleaner, incase you are not satisfied with the product or you need to exchange it for another set within a given period specified by the company.
- Warranty Period - As for all products, if you have a warranty for many years, you can be sure that your vacuum cleaner would last longer.
- More Power - A heavy vacuum cleaner with more power is durable and suitable for multi-task. But then the difficult to push and drag is the biggest headache.
- Price - Never assume that pricey vacuum cleaners are the best choice. Take into considerations their features and flexibility to serve your requirement.
Here is a brief about the different types of vaccum cleaners
- Upright Vacuum Cleaner - The most preferred brand and powerful in cleaning carpets or floors. They occupy less space, but then you need to drag it along while cleaning.
- Central Vacuum Cleaner - They are less noisy, but occupy space and are costlier than the other brands. The installation needs to be done by a professional. It is not flexible enough to move the vacuum cleaner body, while you do the cleaning. These vacuums have long hose with the vacuum brush attached and I find it is not flexible in doing the cleaning.
- Canister Vacuum Cleaner - Recommended to clean floors, upholstery, curtains and useful for homes with pets. They seem to be bulky and heavy, but it is a good choice in clearly cleaning corners and edges of floors. Upright and Canister vacuum cleaners are the popular brands with the flexibility in using it.
- Stick Vacuum Cleaner - It is a best choice to clean floors, as they are built with long handles. But they are not good to clean carpets and are quiet noisy.
- Robo Vacuum Cleaner - Works like a robot that does the work for you, without you ever lifting a finger. Don't expect the job to be done tidy, as you know they are robo cleaners.
- Small Vacuum Cleaners - They are light weight cleaners that can be held in your hand and best for cleaning your cars, upholstery and mild cleaning of floors. Compared to heavy vacuum cleaners, they lack power and so you don't get a good job done.
