Do not use Dell for third party items. Ordered a Sony Handycam DCR-HC45E on 18 December 2007 at what looked like a fairly competitive price, £172 including free delivery. The original estimated delivery was 27 December 2007, but this kept being extended in "fulfillment delay" until I finally got fed up when it reached 25 February 2008. I canceled the order on 12 February 2008, with Dell having had my money for over a month. After this I seriously doubt whether I'll buy from them again.

Just about to cancel a Dell order for an Inspiron 6400 laptop, ordered 5/9 for my daughter to take to university. We have placed two previous Dell laptop orders in the past year, and both arrived within days. I was originally told delivery would be on or before 19/9.....you can guess when I have now told it will be..25/10! Watch out for 'customer service' keeping you hanging on - annoying music - and they are so polite it is frustratingly hard to vent your anger upon them!!

ordered my laptop 8th August 2007 Dell imediatly charged my credit card for the full amount of the purchase, they said allow 10 working days for delivery that came and went, next delivery date given 17th september, just been informed that that delivery date will now be missed new date now will be 23rd October, and i will still be expected to pay my credit card bill for goods i have not received.Had enough cancelled order today avoid Dell at all costs. very poor service you have been warned.

As a company, we moved to purchasing Dell via a supplier for all our laptops and several servers. This has been an extremely good arrangement up til now with excellent delivery times and great customer service.... Suddenly, and with no apparent reason, it has turned into a nightmare. We are now waiting from 4 - 6 weeks on delivery times and 1 item that had been on order for 4 weeks was suddenly cancelled with no explanation from Dell, we were advised that they were no longer available, period.

Please do not use this company. The products are reasonably priced but if anything goes wrong you are unlikely to get anything sorted quickly. I ordered a new computer for an elderly friend and they accidently charged her twice for it. It took me more than 3 months and countless telephone calls to retrieve this money for her. Giving Dell the benefit of the doubt I tried to order some computers for work. They delivered the wrong equipment, and despite my best attempts they could not correct.

I order computers for the office I work in, and have ordered from Dell 3 or 4 times. EVERY time I order, I get great service. In the past few years, I've only had problems with one Dell computer, and it was a Windows ME (don't even get me started) problem. Dell bent over backwards to make that right. I ordered two new systems last year, and they gave me a great small business price, and they have worked great! Just placed an order for an Inspiron 6000, and should receive it any day now.

Ordered an Inspiron 9200. The delivery window I received was 9am-5pm which was a bit inconvenient. Order failed to arrive. Despite calls during the day learnt later that delivery had been attempted but at 7.30am (i.e. outside delivery window) and to the wrong flat number. Within a year of purchase of my £1000 machine I have had to have both the screen and drive replaced. Again a struggle to achieve. Never again!

Ordered a Dimension 8400 on line and had Email confirm within the hour ordered Friday morning had a phone call Monday morning confirming delivery for between 5PM and 9PM on Wednesday evening very impressed with the evening delivery seems to make sense as most of us work during the day arrived on time about 6PM easy set up but had a problem with the surround sound speakers contacted tech support they arranged delivery of replacement set of speakers arrived the following Monday to place of work. 2 weeks later decided to order a printer over the phone this time and paid by credit card they were happy to deliver to place of work printer arrived within 48 hours everyone I spoke to were very helpful would happily use again

recieved my 8400 dell all upgrades fitted correct,including pci-e & pci cards-changed my order 3 times and thay still got it right.2 monitors,pc,printer,speakers,w-keyboard&mouse,software,cables,ALL arrived the same day inside there 5day max delivery time, I would use this company again,You can also track your orders online...........

First the ordering was so easy -- I used the customize your computer(dell 3Ghz 8400 tower system) page on the Dell web site and read this out to the lady at Dell-- much to my surprise she repeated everything back exactly and came to the same total cost as me. credit card details were taken and repeated back and a delivery time was given of 10 days I received a email after 10 mins detailing the customized order with a request to confirm. approx 1 hour after confirming order I received an emailed invoice. seven days later (3 days early)the package was delivered - everything was unpacked and set up -- and worked fine with minimum interaction on my part as everything is preloaded . to say that I'm impressed is a understatement--I've been building my own computers for years (also for family and work mates) and would be hard pushed to build one for the price I paid ( Dell has lots of promotions on at the moment ) on looking inside the base unit everything is laid out neatly. I have no idea what the after sales is like-- I'm a bit concerned after reading the previous reviews but we'll sort that out if needed. I would certainly recommend Dell as I feel that I've got a computer that looks good --works very well -- at a very good price. I'm happy !!!!!!

Ordered a Dell Axim X5 on the internet, with tomtom3 GPS. The axim arrived within 4 days of ordering, however the TT3 and GPS reciever didnt. I have been on the phone daily and manage to be transfered to India. I am really fustrated as I cant seem to find out where the rest of my order is. I have spent £477 on this bit of kit and wished i had gone elswhere. Axim X5 is a great toy, shame the service isnt as good.

Bought a 8600C from Dell, while delivery was not the quickest it arrived on time. I used it for 4.5 hours before the screen fell over. Further 8 days and two aborted deliveries, to get an engineer out as they discovered they did have any spares, yet they continued to take orders for the same model! Screen replaced, configured wireless internet and could not connect. Everything else seemed to be OK with other laptops so contacted

Last week I ordered a Dell Axim on the internet. I wanted to have it delivered to my work but their site said that the alternative delivery address had to be registered with my credit card. I tried to add my work address to 3 of my credit cards but the companies wouldn't let me. So I placed the order with delivery at my home address and decided to sort it out with the courier company. Lynx attempted delivery yesterday, when I was at work, and left me a card with a number to call to 'rearrange'. I called this morning to be told that another delivery would be attempted today (funnily enough, I am also at work!). I said that I needed an out-of-hours delivery, preferably on Saturday. I was told that I couldn't have that as the Dell service agreement stipulates that delivery must be made Mon-Fri 9-6pm. I said that I would collect it from the warehouse...but there is no collection facility. I suggested that they get a message to the delivery driver today to tell him to knock on my neighbour's door who might be in. Deliveries can only be made to the address registered with the paying credit card and that means my address and not my neighbour's! At this point, I was given the number of the call centre in India. The agent reiterated all of the above and then helpfully suggested that I get a member of my family (who,themselves,work and live 80miles away), or a neighbour, to wait in at MY house all day for the delivery!!! Am I the only person who thinks that this is an absurd request?? I already explained that I would not wait in myself because, in my experience, these deliveries all too frequently don't take place when they're supposed to and I have wasted plenty of valuable annual leave waiting in for deliveries that don't turn up, so why on earth would I inflict this on someone else? Surely this delivery policy does not cater to the majority of the British working population who, like me, are out during working hours? I am also in a new job and not in a position to take holiday or work from home for the day. After a 15 minute conversation in which, after I instructed them to cancel my order, I was offered £50 off a £280 PDA to stay in and take delivery on a weekday (this rendered me utterly speechless - surely couriering it to my work address would be cheaper?), I eventually succeeded in having my order cancelled and asked that my reasons (appalling delivery service) be escalated to someone who actually cares. I previously used Dell for buying all my computing equipment and recommended them to my friends. I am now looking for an alternative supplier.

I ordered a Dell Inspiration 8600 about a week ago. On the automatically generated invoice it was stated that I would recieve a order confimation shortly. It never came. I contacted Dell by phone repeatedly during the week, kept getting new deadlines by which I would recieve this confirmation and the deadlines were continously broken. The service when calling was horrible and impatient, and by now I'm really regretting that I ever placed an order with Dell. I still have not recieved the orderconfirmation, and a complaint I wrote to the complaint department was never answered. The only information I have been able to obtain fron Dell to date is that I can at the earliest expect the computer to be delivered almost two weeks (!!!) after placing the order. IBM and Acer are producing as good machines at as good prices, but sold from much better and more efficient internet stores. Go for one of these instead. I wish I had.

Early feb purchased Inspiron 8600 - Radeon 9700 graphics card upgrade - didn't work. 3yr NBD on-site 'didn't guarantee' next day. Waited for three days for engineer. Replaced onboard speakers, motherboard and plastic case. Still didn't work. Asked for refund - 'not company policy, read the small print'. Two weeks later, received 2nd 8600 as replacement. Didn't work. On 12 Feb told that I would receive 9100 as replacement and as compensation. Been advised that delivery date is 5 MAY 2004.Technical support in India has gone all quiet on me. My experience of Dell has been absolute Hell.

Ordered a Dimension 8300 online on the 10/03/04, was delivered on the 15/03/04. Excerlent service, very impressed with machine,P4 3.0G,1Gig Ram, DVD RW and seperate CD RW,17inch flat screen, with All in one printer and Kodak Digi Camera all for under £1200. Machine spec beat any that I could find in any store.

puchased a inspiron 8500 from dell.Only had the machine a few days when it started to lock up. contacted technical support(India)very suprised. Found them helpful but a little slow to reply. Tried various dianostics, but was unable to resolve the problem.I phoned dell and requested a refund (1979 sale of goods act)or a new machine and an upgrade as compensation.They went for the latter.Had a new8600 within 13days plus bigger hard drive,centrino processer,better graphics,thanks Dell.I heared bad reports about dell but my experience has been great.What a great machine the 8600 is.A true desk top replacement.

On 16th Dec ordered Axim X5 - week or 12 days to deliver. Check site then said 29th Dec. On 29th no date on check site for delivery. No answer to e-mail. Ring and told no date for delivery can be given but will ring back in 4 hours. Didn't happen. Ring again - 31st - still no date can be given as waiting for 3rd party to deliver parts before it can be assembled. Find they have already taken the money from my account are and reluctant to cancel my order etc - Dell asked for another 48 hours to achieve a delivery date. Now looking elsewhere. Disappointed.
