If you love James Bonds cool car but get bored with all that sneaking around and talking, SpyHunter is the game for you. The hackneyed backstory has an evil corporation bent on global domination. Yawn. The real fun begins when you take the wheel of a G-1655 Interceptor for 14 lead-footing missions around the world. Options on this factory special include dual machine guns, heat-seeking missiles and the capability to lay down a nasty oil slick. When badly damaged, a G-1655 sheds its exoskeleton and becomes a high-speed motorcycle. When it lands in water, a G-1655 instantly morphs into a juiced-up gunboat. If the boat, in turn, takes enough damage, it will become a personal watercraft on steroids. In many ways SpyHunter is the most basic form of video gaming, i.e. drive fast and blow stuff up. Its a formula that continues to work in todays 3D, 60-frames-per-second world. Its a formula that will probably work when consoles read brainwaves and project holographic images. Minimize

Epinions Poor Port of A Good Game

by  Shaunpm60,  Oct 26, 2002
Pros: Good action game and decent sound.
Cons: Poor framerate and pixelated textures and effects. A bit repeditive.
The Bottom Line: A fun game that has been given a poor presentation and look. This version is missing all the extras the PS2 and XBox versions had.
Review: Spy Hunter for the GCN is a port of the PS2 version released 6 months before it. Unfortunatley, in that time, they didn't make it better and took more things out. Point of View did a rather shoddy port of this game. While it does capture the essence of...

Epinions Spy Hunter: The Only Hunt Here Is For Replay Value...

by  Slusy, lead in Games ,  Jun 3, 2002
Pros: Based on a classic franchise
Cons: Mangles that franchise, substandard in all aspects, manufactured replay value
The Bottom Line: Midway's remake of Spy Hunter is a disgrace to the original arcade game and the GameCube as a whole. Not even worth a rental.
Review: Here's an open message for the people at Midway: You mess with the classics, and you have to answer to me.

I rented Spy Hunter recently, because I had quite an affinity for the original arcade game. One of my earlier memories is of playing...
