As child carrier technology has improved, everyday use of kid packs has increased. No longer just for hikes in the great outdoors, parents are using packs to cruise the grocery store or to walk around town. In response to the demands of todays busy multi-tasking parents, Deuter has created the KangaKid. Strap on the KangaKid - what appears to be a regular, full capacity (four zippered compartments and plenty of mesh pockets) backpack with luxurious shoulder straps and a padded hipbelt. In addition to all of the features of a high end backpack, the KangaKid unzips to reveal (gasp!) a full child cockpit.

The Bottom Line: Highly recommend this pack for many reasons ** but caution that no stand = difficult to get on and off with the weight your baby inside. Takes strength & practice.
Review: I just tried out this backpack / kid carrier by Deuter (a trusted manufacturer of hiking gear) and while I like it a lot when it is on and I am hiking, I have mixed feelings about it.

The Bottom Line: Great hidden small child carrier built into a back pack. Very comfortable to wear even for long day hikes. Only drawbacks are no stirrups and low weight limit.
