Rubber smell that won't go away

I regret that I bought this vacuum cleaner. I noticed the rubber smell the first time I used it. I thought that maybe it is because it is a new vacuum and it will go away in a few days. It didn't. I regret that I was lazy since when I decided to return the vacuum, it has passed the 90 day return period at WalMart.
I called Bissell customer support who suggested me to replace the belt. I did, and the smell persisted.
I had it looked at a custom service shop who replaced the motor. The smell persisted.
I don't know if this is a problem for all Bissell vacuum cleaners. I never had any rubber smell problem with my other vacuum cleaners (Dirt Devil). I borrowed a Bissell from a friend of mine (another model), it seems that it has the same problem.
