Best iPod Boombox Under $200

Date of Review:  Apr 9, 2006
The Bottom Line: The iM7 is the sweet spot of iPod docking/speaker stations. With a protective internal pod-holder, the ability to play very loud, this is the current docking station to beat.
Review: The Altec Lansing iM7 is $100 less than the popular (and overpriced) Bose docking station. While Bose has the reputation, it's impossible to find it discounted below the $299 list price. I paid $190 for the iM7 from buy.com, and it can be found at...

Great Sound. Good Buy

Date of Review:  Feb 22, 2006
Review: I purchased several iPod stereo docks before settling on AL's iM7. The others were just too weak, volume wise. The iM7 has great sound. I've read other reviews complaining about having to reset their iPod, but I've never run into that problem. Some...

Review: the design is nice the sound is very good (especially the bass) but there are strange annoying problems like finding your ipod with an empty battery because when you turn off the im7 it sometimes turn off the ipod but it also sometimes does not !...

Our Tiny Orchestra

Date of Review:  May 14, 2006
The Bottom Line: This is a great system for any iPod owner. The sound quality makes you feel like you're hearing a live performance of your music collection!
Review: I purchased this speaker system for my fiance for his birthday last year. We have a treadmill in the basement and when he works out he usually searches through his cds to find the perfect workout music. I wanted to buy him a set of speakers to work...

Awesome sound from a small "sausage"

Date of Review:  May 24, 2007
The Bottom Line: Excellent audio hardware to make your iPod "share" your music.
Review: When I purchased a 5th gen. 30GB video iPod, I wanted a good way to play music to the room. After looking at the broad variety of this 21st century 'boombox', I settled on this one for its good rating and its esthetical qualities (space age and...

Nice sound, good "add on" for your iPod

Date of Review:  Feb 12, 2006
The Bottom Line: Great add on for the iPod if you want to share your music with others. Can replace your boom box, but probably not your home stereo.
Review: Background: I purchased an iPod Video (30 Gig) for my wife for Christmas (link to review: http://www.epinions.com/content_217864703620 ) and we were looking for something to use a portable player for all the music we now have on the iPod.

Nice looking unit. We enjoyed the sound, but it broke in less than a week.

Date of Review:  Jan 6, 2006
Review: Though the sound quality is fine, inserting the iPod(s) into the slot is a little harrowing. I managed to scratch the plate of my new (video) iPod by not quite pushing it correctly into the slot.

I also liked the round bi-directional...

Great sound, but broken latch

Date of Review:  Dec 24, 2006
Review: Perhaps I am just a bull in a china closet, but the latch that holds the door in place broke on the first night. I selected this over the Bose after listening to both side by side at my local Circuit City. The Altec Lansing sounded just as good, if...

Sound is excellent

Date of Review:  Feb 20, 2007
Review: This unit sounds good and discount prices are available making it a great value. Has a handy remote but no good indication of the settings. Charges the Ipod when on AC but not on batteries.

Factory refurbished and it still crushes the Bose Sounddock

Date of Review:  Dec 19, 2007
The Bottom Line: Better than Bose Sounddock. Better overall sound quality, especially bass. Buy the iM7, you'll be happy you did.
Review: I took a lot of time looking at different ipod docks. I went through all the reviews on cnet and epinions and many other review websites. What I came to find was that the iM7 delivers as good, if not better sound, than the Bose Sounddock, and for...
