Bissell 3750 Lift Off Bagless Upright Vacuum

My husband and I decided it was time to replace the 20+ yr old yard sale Hoover I had used throughout college, and we discovered that we had different vacuum preferences. He wanted a canister, while I preferred an upright. Therefore, we were excited when we found a great compromise in the Bissell Lift-Off. We did some research, read the reviews, and found the cheapest purchase at Target. We examined the display model, paying attention to the weight of the unit (as many reviews commented about the uncomfortable heft of the canister). While it is somewhat on the heavy side, it was within the range of both my husband and myself. I can see, however, why the unit could be too much for some. We were also impressed with the display model hose. It seemed very durable and manueverable.

We purchased the item, put it together, and gave it a whirl. Immediately we were impressed -- and disgusted -- by the amount of dust and dirt that collected in the canister. I was impressed that it actually picked up my long hair, which I'd always had to comb out of the carpet with my fingers.

There were a few disappointments with the unit, however. The model we purchased did not included the swivel hose that we examined on the Target display model. Instead, our hose snapped directly into the unit, making the hose less maneuverable. Our model did not come with the canister strap, either. Both the swivel hose and strap are available for purchase; I'd have preferred them with the original purchase of the vacuum, though. My husband also commented that the dirt collector cup filled up quickly, though I imagine once we've given our home a thorough cleaning, it wont fill up so quickly with regular vacuuming.

Overall, we are pleased with the cleaning ability of the unit, but somewhat disappointed and annoyed with the fact that some basic items are not included with all models.
