Weak Power?
Date of Review: Nov 22, 2005
The Bottom Line: It all depends on what you need. I was very happy with my logitechs. Then I heard Klipsch and Bose. I will never go back.
I needed something to replace my Logitech Z-560's (400w RMS).
Not wanting to spend 700$ Canadian on a set of Klipsch I thought I'd have no choice but to save for a very high-end system. Then I re-discovered the Companions 3 from Bose. I had seen theses before and I knew I loved them for their rich highs and detailed Mids but I always assumed the sub would never be good enough for me. I could have grabbed the z-5500 but I was sick of low quality highs. A friend of mine told me he was going to get a high-end setup for his PC and needed to find a buyer for his barely-6 month old companion set. So I ask him if I could test them at home. I was incredibly surprised. I wasn't shocked when I heard sounds in my music I had never heard before since I had tested these at the store already. I was surprised when I caught myself turning down the bass ... twice. I keep it around 1/4 of the way up. The bass is deep and clear. It sounds better than the 188w sub from my z-560's. Obviously there is a lot I don't understand about audio because these Bose destroyed all I assumed about power and quality. My friend is letting me have these for 150$ instead of 300$ MSRP. Needless to say I am chucking my logitechs out the door and enjoying my music anew!!
