Great product but takes too long 2 shave for me!
Date of Review: Jan 14, 2007
The Bottom Line: Great razor but too long to shave close - 15 minutes on a thick beard. Almost as close as a blade!
This was my first electric shaver - I normally shave with a shick extreme 3 bladed razor. Once my face got used to the razor (took a couple of weeks), it shaved almost as close as a bladed razor. The charging and storage unit were handy and no fuss. I got 6 weeks out of the cleaning cartridge - not too bad - I cleaned it nearly every shave - I don't shave weekends. I am returning the shaver though as it took me 15 minutes to get a good close shave everywhere. I have a thick beard and I am picky as when it comes to shave quality - It had trouble shaving my trickiest spots on my face. 15 minutes was a long time to shave everyday. I am going to trial the Phillips equivalent as they too have a 60 day trial period. The shaver is dear but it is the 2nd best model and it is quality. The pivoting head was good as is the locking mechanism. The thing that impressed me most was it's ability to shave through 4 or 5 days stubble with no problem. I may repurchase this unit again if I cannot find a better model or I may revert back to blades. I did find that the unit gave lee irritation than blades, if you use a shaving oil or pre-electric razor lotion. As far as the cleaning unit noise issues people have - it didn't bother me really as I would shave, put the razor on to clean and then have a shower so the noisy bit was over by the time I finish my shower. The razor itself is a little noisy but (compared to a phillips) but it's not too bad. The shaver itself has a bit of weight to it also but you get use to it and don't even notice it eventually. All round good unit but I was unhappy with the time it took to have a good close shave.
