Middle of the Fairway with optimum distance!!
Date of Review: Apr 21, 2005
The Bottom Line: I recommend this ball for anyone that wants to crank it off the tee, and go for maximum distance on each shot.
I ordered a 50 pak of balls from a used golf ball site, and this one didn't quite look like a golf ball.
I thought I would try it on my next outing. As long as I have played golf, I have never gotten a good drive on the first tee.
I cranked this ball about 286 yards down the middle of the fairway. (I usually drive it 245-263). It rolled about 15 yards on a Zoysia fairway, which is very course. The Zoysia fairways that I have played on didn't give up much roll. The scary thing was when I hit it, I felt like I barely touched it.
This ball has a very nice feel; very soft. It it is very forgiving on mis-hits, and is easy to distinguish from other players' balls due to its' Warbird emblem. It sticks to the green okay if you use a 60 degree lob-wedge. Other than that, take your chances.
I used it well into the 6th hole, which is when I usually start to lose golf balls, but up until then, I was 4 shots below my usual score. This ball really holds up to the most unforgiving clubs, especially if you are a "hacker" and you beat your clubs all about the face with the ball.
The balls are a little more than average price. You would want to get your game down to a 3-ball per round loss before you buy a batch.
Overall, I hit it very nicely with my driver and my irons, (which is unusual).
The warbird plays with the feel of a Srixon, except it flies about 25 yards longer.
The best place to find them is on a used golf ball site on the web for about .60 each. A 12 pack at Wal-Mart will set you back about $15.
This ball is worth a round. You will make it your favorite.
