Loved this scanner but...

Date of Review: Sep 4, 2006

This scanner is inexpensive, lightweight and easy to use. This image quality is fine. However, scanning at anything higher than around 200dpi, the scanner is slow or even fails and looses its connection to the computer and needs to be re-started / installed.

Canon claimed it was because the USB port on my computer was not up to scratch. They had seen this problem before. They claim that the power provided from computer to cable must be VERY exact in that the scanner is entirely USB powered.

My feeling is that they should provide alternate power source to those of us (and there have to be at least a few :-) ) who do not have "perfect" power through USB.
