Awesome Camera but Spendy Repairs!

The Bottom Line: Great camera but be wary of the CFC!!!
I really like this camera overall. It's simple enough that you can hand it off to someone to take a snap shot with very little explanation or 'dial it up' for more professional type situations. I've had this camera for about 1 1/2 years now and it's been great... well up until this week anyway.
When the compact flash card was being installed back into the camera apparently it was slightly askew which in turn bent a few of the pins that insert into the card itself. I had the battery in the camera and when the pins touched together... POOF. There went the guts from what I'm being told. I've called around to a few local repair shops and I seem to be looking at a $300 repair bill. I'm torn with whether to fix this camera or upgrade to one that takes the SD cards so there's not a chance of this happening again.
It's a little on the big side, but it's never bothered me. I don't like the 'trash' feature... maybe I just haven't figured it out yet, but I've only been able to delete either all of the pictures at one time or I have to delete them from the card individually. My old 'pocket' camera allowed me to check mark the ones to be deleted and do a whole series at once... much easier in my opinion. Great battery life though!!!!
