Canon 24-105L

Date of Review: Jun 8, 2006

This is really a fine lens among zooms in spite of its high distorsion. The latter has a relatively favourable pattern and is correctible with Photoshop. There is no DxO plug-in as yet. The sweet spot is near 50mm as one may expect.

There is some colour fringing also. The worst thing about this lens is its very harsh bokeh.

The image stabilizer works fine.

Still, it stands behind the old EF 50 Macro in terms of sharpness in all distances and appertures.

Although I am not a zoom-fan and not a Canon fan, I use this lense when shooting people during trips if I am with my car. When I have to carry my camera for a long time, the Leica M7 is my choice with its tiny lenses.
