I-Pod Touch 8 Gig Review
Date of Review: Feb 18, 2008
The Bottom Line: Excellent indoor use, but not for exercise use because of size. Wait a month for price drops at local Wal-Mart. Price within two months went 300 to 270.
Out of the box: I-Pod touch 8 Gig, ear buds, 2.0 USB Cable, plastic dock, polishing cloth, start-up guide, and stand
Requires: Vista, OS X, XP with Service Pack 2 or later, Quick Time and I-Tunes 7.6 or later
Advantage Points:
Comes with Internet (Built in Wi-Fi b/g) and Safari (browser)
Customize sound equalizer, languages, menu, main page, back light (Saves power)
View photos, videos, listen to music
Good (note: Just GOOD) battery life
Touch-sensitive
Album artwork
Stunning display (3.5 Inches, 480-by-320-pixel resolution at 163 pixels per inch)
Light (4.2 Ounces)
Uses I-Tunes (Now offers Rental features on videos)
View videos, photos, or listen to music horizontally or diagonally as the IP Touch accommodates to how you hold it
Disadvantages:
Bulky
Keyboard (Via touch) alphabets are way too small to touch for people with more-than average-sized fingers
Price
Charges via USB (Outlet charger not included)
Future battery replacement
Video performance sub-par
If you use Vista or XP, you MUST install I-Tunes and Quick Time (Takes up Hard Drive Space and RAM)
Advice:
If you are thinking about getting the I-Pod Touch, I would recommend you look into the new generation I-Pod Nano's because of the fact that it's less bulky and thus more portable. This would be ideal for use on vacations, but not for exercise use. In addition, buy a screen protector to protect your investment and keep those dirty finger prints off. By the way, purchase this product at your local Wal-Mart so that you can get it around 270 dollars whereas purchasing it online could cost you 300 or so. I also want to add that I would not recommend this product purchasing an MP3 player for the first time or to someone who is not tech savvy as it would take time to get used to.
