Pros: fast, quiet, affordable, can scan color and B&W 35 mm negatives, nice TWAIN driver
Cons: the negative carriage holder is flimsy cardstock, most of the bundled software sucks
The Bottom Line: For less than $100, I doubt you can do much better. Great all-purpose scanner that won't hurt your ears or your wallet.

Review: My best friend bought me this scanner for Christmas, after I researched some models and let him know which one to get. I picked this particular model because of the low price, high resolution, and because it is a flatbed scanner that can also handle...

Pros: cheap, easy to use in Windows
Cons: Won't work in Linux.
This reviewer does not recommend this product.
Review: As someone else has said, this is a great cheap scanner - for Windows. Don't bother with the bundled software; just use Windows' camera & scanner wizard. But for those of us who use Linux by preference it makes a fine paperweight. Totally useless...

Pros: Ease of set-up, price, ease of use, great scans for photos & documents
Cons: Sub-par photo and OCR software included
The Bottom Line: Recommended without hesitation: multiple reasons (read review). I recommended my school district to purchase these and they did.

Review: I've owned multiple scanners, and this is my second Canon scanner. I use it both at home and in my classroom. I've owned the 4400F for about a year now (and have it in my classroom for about the same time), so after a year I figure I can give a...

Pros: For the cost it does very well.
Cons: Slow to scan and didn't care for the photo editing program that comes with scanner.
The Bottom Line: For the cost and if it works for more than two weeks it's a good valve.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: Received this scanner for Xmas. Worked very well for the first two weeks on photos and negatives but so-so on slides but the slides are 40 years old and have darken and lose of color over time. In the last two weeks started getting very grainy scans...

Pros: Easy to use. Good quality. Does 4 slides at a time.
Cons: Slides a little dark. Takes about 11 minutes for 4 slides at 600dpi.

Review: I just bought this scanner on Amazon for $88 including shipping. I've scanned some photos with great success. I was surprised how good it scanned old negatives I had only had a handful of slides but it did an ok job. They were a little dark but they...

Pros: Extremely silent, easy to operate, perfect colours. Scanning photographs is quick and yields excellent results.
Cons: Cannot be used for film unless you really don't give a damn about details.
The Bottom Line: If you only need to scan prints, go for it. It's excellent for that. If you plan to scan film strips or slides, forget about it.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: If you think about buying this scanner to scan negatives or slides, forget about it. The maximum optical resolution is 300 dpi, which in the case of film scanning is an absolute crap. You can get pictures good enough to send to friends via e-mail,...

Review: When is the last time anyone in civilized society has used a scanner? I mean, paper pictures? Slides? Negatives? What in the world are those?? Anyone who was born before the year 2000 has photo albums, photo boxes and storage that requires no...
