The Bottom Line:
The game is very very exciting and fun until you've beaten it. Then it gets pointless. Great RENTAL video game.

Bling bling. You're a guy who sees people getting bullied around by the police and you won't just stand by and do nothing. So instead of joining the police force and trying to straighten things out over there you decide to become a street brawler and beat up everyone in sight, including Bonecrusher and Lil Flip.
This game is filled with fun until you beat it. Once you've mastered the game and you've gotten your created character perfect in every way there's not much else to do. You could try a new fighting style, as there are five to choose from. These include wrestling to martial arts.
After you've made your character and talked it over with the big boss of the street brawling underworld you're ready to test your power against some of the weaker fighters. As the game progresses so do the opponents. Sometimes you might even think you're gonna lose a match here or there, but don't worry I doubt you will.
This game is just like the other Def Jam's before it. Just put a string of combo punches and kicks together and you're off. You've weakened your opponent and you can go in for the kill. There are a ton of new special finisher moves that are all pretty interesting to watch and perform.
You go through the game. All of the shop owners send you messages on your two-way when they get new items in. All of your crew members send you messages when someone gets jumped and YOU have to go get their revenge. You go until every part of New York is your territory. Fighting in enemy territory is dangerous because the crowd will hand your opponent bottles and they'll grab you so your opponent can pummel you. Don't worry, it's still possible and probable to win in enemy territory.
Once you've beaten the story mode you've beaten the game. However, the entertainment value for those first two days when you're playing is very high. Great graphics mixed with awesome fighters and combos is a good mix. If you're ok with beating a game in two days go out and buy it. Otherwise just rent it, because it'll be over before you know it.
