Product Review

I got one &can hardly use it

by   oldfloridagirl ,   Jan 4, 2008

Pros:  When it works, it's great.

Cons:  Battery life sucks. Lots of $$ to add all stuff.

The Bottom Line:  If you need to take a computer with you, take a laptop. New cell phones can do as much as pocket pcs these days.

Overall Rating: 3/5 stars

Author's Review

I bought one from Dell.com 2 yrs ago and it never did connect to the Internet after numerous calls to support. THEN I was told I had the wrong pocket pc, I needed the NEW one with the BUILT IN wireless card. I bit, then packed the old one to my daughter who uses it as a glorified MP3 player. I have taken it on the road with me and have to be right next to a wi-fi spot to get a signal. But it did work. The small screen can be hard to look at for those who use reading glasses. The charging station is faster than just plugging it into the USB port. The battery lasts about 3 hrs so you have to turn it off and on if you are going to be needing it all day. The alternative is to buy the car charger and keep it plugged in as you go. The charger, hard case and SD cards cost a lot of $$. Prices for SD cards have come down alot since then. I tried to save maps of where I was going using Pocket Streets and it was too hard to read, had no zoom in and out or panning. Sadly, I do not use it much at all for anything and regret buying it. The company I had worked for was going to let me use their program to diagram buildings with it. Then all I had to do was download the files to the desktop. After I went and bought it on my supervisor's recommendation, the company changed procedures and put that program online. I bought it for nothing essentially. Overall, I think I wasted my money and should have gotten some spare hard drives and better speakers for my Dell desktop.
