You better like your music...because that is all you will hear.

Date of Review:  May 15, 2007
The Bottom Line: Buy them if you don't mind flatter response. Try all the ear pcs to get a good fit.
Review: I must have gone through 24 1/2 pairs of ear phone/ear buds in the past 8 years. Some have no sound quality, some do not stay in the ear, and some just fall apart. Any head phone makes the ear sweat so ear buds are desired and the reduced sound...

I am satisfied; give 'em a try

Date of Review:  Nov 29, 2006
The Bottom Line: These phones are good buy for their quality of sound, not exactly what is advertised, but still very worth it. Shop around. These really do have great sound.
Review: I bought my Etymotic research er6i's about a year ago. I use them pretty frequently and I like them. They block ambient sound well and they are lightweight. Take a little amount of time to get used to. Apparently in some countries they come with a...

Attenuation is the word

Date of Review:  Jun 19, 2006
The Bottom Line: If you want a reasonably priced in ear monitor, you won't find much better.
Review: I've owned my 6i's for about 5 months now. I use them all day, every day at work with my Creative Zen Touch. I do like these very much. They're my first pair of in-canal headphones (IEMs, or In-Ear-Monitors).

The first thing that struck me...

Fantastic isolation and great sound quality in a tiny package

Date of Review:  Nov 29, 2007
The Bottom Line: The Ety-6i delivers a lot of value at a fairly competitive price point.
Review: These tiny little earphones deliver great sound quality. I'm no audiophile, but I know bad headphones (i.e. the free headphones you get in airplanes, the included earbuds with potable players) and good headphones (i.e. Koss Sporta-Pros, a pair of...

One of the best canalphones in this price range.

Date of Review:  May 29, 2005
The Bottom Line: For a discerning music lover who wants a quality noise isolating earphone, this is the best under $150 earphone. Those looking for a punchy/bassy sound may be disappointed.
Review: The Etymotic Research ER-6i is an entry level earphone from the company that has made a reputation on audiophile quality earphones. These are "noise isolating" earphones as Shure calls their own product, that is, they block noise up to a remarkable...

Toss the earbuds

Date of Review:  Sep 20, 2005
Review: I had heard good things about these on the Apple website, so I ordered them from the Etymotic website. Great sound quality, and they do a much better job of blocking out background noise than the Bose Quiet Comfort headset I used to have. They're...

The line noise!

Date of Review:  Jan 2, 2006
Review: Sure, I will catch bloody ___ for writing something short and to the point. . .

The other reviewers have covered the major aspects of these earphones quite well. However, most fail to mention one blaring difficulty: line noise.

I Can't Travel (Live) Without Them

Date of Review:  Apr 8, 2005
Review: The ER-6 are compact, fit easily in my briefcase or purse and I can use plug them into any commercial airline audio jack. When they are worn, they are very much concealed, no Mickey Mouse over the ear headsets! The sound is great, canceling out the...

Sound and Silence...How to hear Mozart at a Rock Concert

Date of Review:  Mar 13, 2006
The Bottom Line: Excellent noise blocking, good sound, and small package great for traveling. But if you don't like "earplug" design, or socialize while you listen, these won't be for you.
Review: Etymotic Research ER-6i "isolator" earphones are in-canal, "earplug" type headphones. They are intended for the high-quality reproduction of music while blocking out background sounds in noisy environments. Without going any farther, I can say that...

Not The Best For Everybody...But Still Great

Date of Review:  Nov 20, 2005
The Bottom Line: Some of people won't find these to be worth the money, because they don't have the ear for it. Maybe I'm one of them. Superb for the others, though.
Review: Ever been in that awkward social situation where somebody wants to "share" an earbud with you so that you can both hear something? I often wonder what exactly makes that so uncomfortable. Is it the idea of intermingling ear-wax? Probably. But...
