Very good sound (esp. high freq), excellent insulation

Date of Review:  Aug 22, 2004
Review: I bought them to replace the lousy in-ear headphones that came with my iPod. I didn't regret it. It took a while to really accept and follow the advice to "insert them well into the ear canal". To do that the key is to help open the ear canal with...

Review: After reading all the reviews of how "Amazing!" these earphones are, I bought a pair and find them an Amazing disappointment.
They are more comfortable than most earphones and they sound better than most stock MP3 player earphones, except I...

Ride a Motorcycle? These are probably the BEST 'phone option around.

Date of Review:  Jun 29, 2006
The Bottom Line: Simply the best option for noise reduction AND great sound quality in their price range.
Review: We live in a very remote area, and spend many hours on streetbikes - both locally and on long-distance tours.

Even with the best helmet money can buy, wind noise is still somewhat of an issue (unless you really WANT to grow up to be that...

Music straight to your brain

Date of Review:  Dec 10, 2004
Review: I was dubious about the Etymotic ear phones but having read all the glowing reports I decided to try them. The standard Photo iPod phones are small and neat but sound very average with very poor base response unless you screw them into your ear and...

They sounded awful to me! Get the ER-4 instead.

Date of Review:  Oct 8, 2002
The Bottom Line: I'm part of 5% of the population who doesn't like these phones. Try before you buy!!
Review: I'm the lone dissenter...
Every review I've read of these headphones absolutely raves about the tremendous sound quality, rivaled only by their big brother, the ER-4's.

Poor sound quality
I purchased a pair of these via...

Great Headphones

Date of Review:  May 11, 2002
The Bottom Line: Great buy. ER6 has best sound short on ER4p, but ER6 is more comfortable. Better than AKG 501 & Sonys.
Review: Etymotic were my second [serious] headphones.

First were Sony's xx70xx.

For comparation, check my update for Sony headphones.

After plugging Etymotic for a first time - they were - comfortable. They sounded very...

Date of Review:  May 31, 2005
Review: I originally purchased the ER-6 Isolator Headphones so that I wouldn't have to have my iPod volume cranked up as high as it would go when working out in noisy settings such as in the gym (or especially) on a plane flight.

While these...

Theses sound great!

Date of Review:  May 22, 2004
Review: I was trying to decide which earphones to buy, and i read a ton of reviews for Etymonics (ER6 and ER4), Sharp and Sony. I choose the ER6 and received them about 3 days later. What a great purchase!
I got them for about $100 and I can't image...

The Strange and Solipsistic World of ER-6 Earphones

Date of Review:  May 28, 2002
The Bottom Line: If music transports you, you want to save your hearing, and you enjoy floating dreamily and ghost-like around people, then these are the earphones for you.
Review: When $129 looks like a "value":
Many people have written about the remarkable sound these earphones produce, much like their pricier ER-4S sibling. Never having heard the higher-end models, I can't directly compare them, but the often-repeated...
