From fantastic to broken in one drop!
Date of Review: Aug 23, 2008
The Bottom Line: Great camera when it worked originally. However, after one drop this camera completely stopped working! Bottom line: avoid it!
I'd like to update my review stating how fantastic this camera is. Here is my original review:
I purchased this camera because bottom line I wanted something that took great pictures and was very easy to use. I got exactly that. Without reading any instructions I was able to simply point and click and have great pictures. My only complaint about this camera is that it doesn't come with a memory card. For the more serious photo taker, the camera has alot of neat features, including:
-Picture stabilization mode which reduces camera shake and blurring
-Shooting modes that include auto, manual, movie and scene positions (portrait, landscape, sport, natural light, night, baby, beach, snow, sunset, underwater, flower, party, museum and text)
-Burst shooting mode which captures up to 3 shots
-Auto and preset (fine, shade, fluorescent light [daylight, warm white, cool white] and incandescent light) white balance controls to achieve natural tones under different lighting conditions
-Built-in auto flash with red-eye reduction, forced flash, suppressed flash and slow synchro modes
-Video mode records movie clips at 640 x 480 resolution up to 30 fps (limited in length only by available memory capacity)
-8MB internal memory
These features (many of which are automatic) help create simple, gorgeous pictures. I have yet to take a picture with red eyes!
This camera also takes high quality videos as well!
Another great feature of this camera is the rechargeable battery which lasts a very long time. It works like a cell phone battery that you plug into a charger, so no more spending tons of money on batteries!
My final compliment to this camera is that it has a very sleek and slim design, and easily fits into your purse or pocket.
Now for the update:
The first and only time i dropped this camera (from eye level to a carpeted floor) it immediately broke! The zoomed out lense will no longer retract itself or zoom and the camera reads as an error everytime I turn it on, so it is now absolutely useless as far as picture taking goes. Although this wasnt the most expensive camera in the world, I expect it to be able to handle a few bumps and bruises and I am therefore changing my ratings on this camera to very poor. Other than this one drop this camera was taken extremely good care of, and since accidents do happen, I suggest you buy a camera that is more durable!
