Want to be a race car driver?
Date of Review: Aug 25, 2001
The Bottom Line: The bottom line is if you don't want to get a speeding ticket but you want to refine your driving knowledge and skills than you should buy this game.
Gran Turismo is a pretty amazing game. Do not expect a normal racing game in which racing is easy though. What makes this game so appealing is that in order to become good at it you really have to develop your skill. The licensing tests are quite difficult, and so are many of the races. With time though you will improve, you just have to be patient. The techniques that you have to use are the same as actual racing techniques. This is what makes the game a virtual marvel. Even if your whizzing by in excess of 120mph, you will still be stunned by the graphic scenery. Actually I found some of courses to be so visually stunning that I stop my car to take a look. This game is one that should really be bought rather than rented, since you can enjoy it indefinitely. I must warn you though that the game is not for everyone. It's not for button crunchers, or people with ADD. Although for those people you could use the arcade mode. Unfortunately arcade mode is too limited in options in potential though. Simulation mode is really where it is at.
