GT4 flying out the door
Date of Review: Jul 8, 2007
The Bottom Line: Purchase this game if you like previous GT games because it's a great game, but don't expect to beat it in a matter of a few hours.
This is my all time favorite game hands down. I have played all of the previous versions of this game and it is the initial reason I purchased a Playstation 2.
Previous GT fans will feel right at home because this game is similar to previous versions, only with better graphics and deeper game play.
This is an easy game to play with arcade mode and simulation mode. Simulation mode is great because it allows you to start a "career", thereby allowing you to purchase a used vehicle to start your racing career. You get $10k credits to start and must purchase a used vehicle to race in the beginner class. You win vehicles when you win races, and many special models can only be unlocked in this fashion. I love that simulation mode allows you to purchase "real" Japanese cars and modify them, adding turbos, exhaust, engine modification chips, to upgrade horsepower and handling. Lighter flywheel and clutch. Special racing models are available for purchase and can be won. Tires and wheels can be purchased, and even a car wash. (Do we really need to wash our cars in the game and change the oil)? The only catch is you have to win races to win money. Obtaining the licenses is challenging, so unless you play this game relentlessly it is rather challenging to beat or complete the game. The main drawback to this game is that it might take up too much of your time, since I just put the game down and haven't finished it. The only thing that I hate about the game is that is so realistic it can be challenging for some people, but I'm pretty sure it still enhances your hand-eye coordination.
