Only had this camera for 2 weeks, but so far it has performed flawlessly. I have been taping for 10 years with a VX1000 which still records great video, but the FX7 is definitely a superior camcorder. HD is as close to being there as is possible. Great detail, superb color and so far it is pretty easy to operate. Some differences are the FX7 is heavier, has greater control over settings, the wide screen allows the operator to see what is recording with ease. The 108 page manual is a bit much to absorb in 2 weeks, low light capability seems a bit less than the VX1000. I miss the overlap feature of the VX1000, but I'll get over that. Wanted this camera for 2 upcoming weddings I will be taping soon. Output can be either HD using a 1394 cable or the supplied component cable or Std is using composite or S-video cable.
