Palm T/X is NOT good
Date of Review: Mar 26, 2008
The Bottom Line: I would NEVER again buy a Palm. One thing i forgot to put in my review is the limited software.More software than WinCE? NO!
I've owned my Palm T/X for about 8 months. I keep thinking I'll get to like it, but I must say that this is one of the biggest pieces of crap I have ever owned. I am at a loss as to why Palm is recommended. Previously I owned a succession of Windows-based handhelds, the last one being an HP ipaq 4350. It was a nice little handheld PC running Windows Mobile. Before that I think I had another iPaq, and before that a Sharp Mobilon. Of all the handhelds I've ever, well, held in my hand, the Palm is, continuing the hands analogy, hands down the worst of the lot.Why did I get rid of my iPaq? I don't know!
Here's what I HATE about the Palm:
1) The "graffiti" software is HORRIBLE! With the Ipaq I could make handwritten notes with the stylus, and it would simply save them as handwritten notes, not try to convert them to text (unless I ran a program to do that, which I never did - written notes are much simpler)
2) The wi-fi is HORRIBLE on the Palm. It never connects to a signal it finds. It always gives the message - no network connection is available, if the last connection isn't available. If you move from place to place, naturally the last connection won't be available. Then you have to "scan" and it will provide a list of available connections. Furthermore, if it scans and can't find an available connection, it will try to connect, and will fail, and will keep trying, and keep trying.. well, you get the picture. If there's a way to stop it from doing that, short of shutting it off, I haven't found it.
3) Over one year from the introduction of iMac's Leopard operating system, Palm still hasn't come out with a software fix to sync the Palm's calendar with the iMac's iCal. That's right, folks, you can't sync Palm with iCal.
Since it's been 8 months since I switched from the iPaq, i'm forgetting some of its other features, but the bottom line is, DON'T BUY A PALM!
