Epinions JVC XV-S30BK DVD Player is a Bargain!

by  swb,  Dec 27, 2001
Pros: Quality DVD player at a low price!
Cons: None for a entry level player.
The Bottom Line: Great budget DVD player!
Review: The JVC XV-S30BK DVD player is a no frills basic DVD player with remote control. I purchased this unit for $139, and am very satisfied with its performance. It reads dvd video, and audio cds...you will need a different model for MP3 discs. The unit has...

Review: The model of this player is XV-S40BK

I wasn't going for this one but the salesperson recommended it. I was going to get a cheaper JVC model. This is my first DVD player and I did research it a little bit, but I was basically at the mercy of...

Epinions Problematic - may (not) affect all players

by  cillasi,  Jan 11, 2008
Pros: Slim and nice-looking machine. Excellent operation (at first). Full-service remote.
Cons: Disk tray seems very fragile. Firm-ware problem (causes) (may cause) malfunction
The Bottom Line: I would be very wary of this product as there may be a firmware defect that causes it to malfunction when searching for disk "chapters."
Review: I bought this up-converting DVD player in December. At first, I was very impressed. Load time was very fast compared to other units I've owned. I don't have HD TV so I can't tell you anything about the HD quality. The case is thin, and the disk ...

Epinions Think twice before buying.

by  mike_d_1583,  Jan 23, 2008
Pros: Good sound quality.
Cons: Skips most of the time.
Review: I recently purchased this DVD player about 2 months ago. I mainly use it to play music CDs. One thing that does not make me happy is the fact that out of nowhere it will stop playing, and you hear this sort of grinding noise like its trying focus on the ...

Epinions Think twice about this one

by  ken_more,  May 20, 2007
Pros: It's thin, and it does work generally
Cons: Skips. Poor front panel display. Not great aesthetic
The Bottom Line: I don't recommend it because of the skipping problems I had. The other problems I could live with.
Review: I don't know how it will be from unit to unit, but I just bought one of these, and I'm not impressed. I don't have an HDMI input on my TV, so I'm using component. The biggest problem I'm having is it skips. CDs and DVDs alike. I tried a DVD I had burned ...
