For my birthday I shed $288 on a brand new digital camera. It is my pride and joy and I hope to have it for many years. This camera I will never take to the beach, pool, or anywhere else with water since I do not want anything to happen. Instead, I purchase Kodak Sport Single Use Camera at Wal-mart for $12.

About & Claims

This is a disposable 35 millimeter camera that is enclosed in see through plastic and rubber. The film speed is 800. It is actually a regular Kodak camera, minus the flash, just encased in a waterproof cover. (It’s not rocket science.) A blue knob is at the top to move forward the film and a blue button is pressed to snap the picture. There is a little window that shows you the amount of pictures remaining in black. You have 27 pictures to take with this camera. I like having a wrist strap for my camera, so Kodak provides a blue rubber wrist strap for your wearing pleasure.

Before you buy this camera there are some things you must know:

- It is Waterproof up to 50 feet (15 meters)
- Divers and snorklers, capture the vibrancy of life 50 feet (15 meters) underwater!
- Rugged, durable, shock-proof rubber shell.
- Great for bumpy rides and rocky trails. Roller Coaster anyone?
- No blurry pictures from sunscreen smudges. Avoid scratches from sand and snow that can ruin pictures.
- Unbeatable Clarity!
- Loaded with Kodak 800 speed film for clearer sharper pictures than any underwater single use camera.
- For outdoor and daylight use only.

Experience

The Jersey shore is one of my favorite places. This is one place that I will never bring a digital camera because I rather lose/break/get stolen/get wet something that claims to be waterproof and $15 then a delicate digital camera that is $288 dollars. I love taking pictures in the ocean and by the ocean; that is the main reason why I bought this camera. Also, I didn’t want my digital to get all sandy and scratched.

I cannot attest to going down to 50 feet, but battling waves in the ocean and having this camera there with me was awesome. We took so many pictures in the ocean! We also sat in the sand and acted like models, (or something like that) without worrying about getting it sandy, dirty, wet, etc. We took a few pictures of us underwater. I am pleased to say that the camera is definitely waterproof. It didn’t leak or break open. It was easy to use – just turn the knob and push a button. The waves were pretty rough the day we went, but the wrist strap was secure, the camera didn’t leak or break, and it even was sandy, salty, and nasty, but held up really well. The claims of rugged, durable, and shock-proof are true to the fullest extent.

It cost about $7 to get developed at our local Drug Fair. Pictures that were taken at dusk weren’t very clear. Some of the pictures weren’t as clear as I wanted them to be but I wasn’t in Bermuda at some beautiful, clear seas. The next time I use this camera I have to remember that there is no flash! Sunlight and outdoors only! My friends and I took some of where we ate lunch, and since it was indoors it didn’t come out that fabulous. None of the pictures were overly blurry or scratched, but the quality wasn’t crystal clear either. The pictures we took underwater were the darker images. I’d say out of the 27 pictures, about 20 of them came back perfect. Of the 7 pictures a few were indoors (I broke the rules), or came out a little grainy and dark for my liking. (The underwater ones.)

I think this is a terrific camera that I would definitely purchase again. It captured our ocean experience and didn’t make anyone a nervous wreck since we weren’t dealing with a very expensive item. I am vacationing down in Wildwood Crest and Point Pleasant this year, and this will definitely be something I will be taking with me. I feel like this camera captured things that a normal camera wouldn’t. It was a lot of fun, the pictures came out good, it was durable, rugged, and shockproof, and something I will continue to buy!

Thanks for the read,

Danielle
