big problem with batteries

Date of Review: Aug 12, 2009

We have had this camera for a couple years now, and it has been a great camera with one notable exception--it is excrutiatingly picky about batteries. Frequently it will not even turn on with brand new freshly charged NIMH batteries. I went through several different brands of NIMH rechargable batteries, and three different brands of chargers, to see if it was my batteries, but, alas, it is not. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when the camera will accept the batteries. I sometimes lug around 10 or more freshly charged batteries (some of which are brand new), in hopes that it will accept at least 2 of them. Everything else about the camera is quite good--video, picture quality, ease of use--when the camera actually turns on.
