Bought from QVC-didn't get great buy
Date of Review: Nov 30, 2008
The Bottom Line: I would buy this product again but probably not from QVC. I love being able to take a small, easy to use video camera with me.
Generally, I like the Zi6. I didn't get anything except the unit itself when I bought from QVC (so didn't get a good buy like the other person who reviewed this) but I already had cards and batteries from other another camera I have. I wanted something to take with me when we camped, hiked or canoed and the Zi6 works great for that. It is small (fits in one of my old digital camera bags), takes acceptable videos and even good snapshots-all on a SD card so it is easy to upload to my computer. I use a USB card reader to upload from the SD card. I also like the idea that it takes AA batteries. I make sure any camera I buy uses AAs so I only need to buy one charger for all my rechargable batteries.
The only thing they could do better is to give you more documentation in the manual (and make what they have more understandable for a novice). I am still trying to learn all the features that you can do with the software. Even online, they don't have much documentation. I have learned how to transfer to DVDs and even put (my own) music on them. When transferring the videos to a DVD I sometimes have to put in several DVDs before the software will accept one. They keep coming back out and I get the message that no media is in the DVD slot. Don't know if it is something I am doing or a glitch in the software. I have tried different brands and get the same results. The DVDs work when I burn photos using Vista so I have to believe it has something to do with the Zi6 software (a friend, who works with computers agrees with me). After popping back out several times, all of a sudden, it will take and burn the DVD.
If it just seems to STOP and the batteries are still OK the card is probably FULL. Change card.
