Too much trouble. I like flip better.

The Bottom Line: The slick look and above average memory ability, plus the good close-up shots, are not able to surmount the bad software and editing problems.
I recieved a kodak zi6 for christmas. Previously I had a flip, not the mino, just a regular one. I tried to like the zi6, but forget it. The software that comes with it is horrible. I tried to work around it but it's just too much trouble. The zi6's good points (capacity for lots of memory, detailed up close shots, nice sleek look and feel), are not great enough to surmount the bad editing software, so,
I am going to return it and buy the flip again. It is straightfoward and does the job, and so does windows movie-maker.
the software that came with the zi6, 'arcsoft media impressions', was less then mediocre and a frustrating experience. after importing my videos, i'd click the 'save' button, but then each time i clicked 'open videos', a message told me there was none. They were in my computer, but when I found them (elsewhere) I could not open them. I called Kodak, who, after a frustrating conversation and asking my name and number, then told me to call arc soft and gave me their number. I called it, but the number was not working! the movie-mking software was not impressive, even to me, a novice. i prefer windows moviemaker.
The deal-breaker, and why I am returning the zi6 to get a flip again, is that the editing software is hard to use and un-helpful. Windows movie maker is immediately usable, even for a novice like me. You can, apparently, use the zi6 with Windows moviemaker, but first you must convert the zi6 MOV files to the avi. files movie maker likes. This is simple, I asked online and did it in twenty minutes, and I had never even heard of MOV or avi. before.
Soon I happily found my zi6 scenes in moviemaker. BUT, the next day, moviemaker could not open the files! And neither could the zi6! they were there, but with red exclamation marks over them, to say, "we, the technology, know something is supposed to be here but we just can't open it."
