Review: Linksys have made a good workhorse when they released the BEFSR41 router. It is very straight forward to setup; you just type in the web address in a browser and enter the Username and Password which they provide. Once in the Web interface you can...

Connect your home network to the Internet

Date of Review:  Aug 27, 2004
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this to anyone looking to home network their DSL or Cable modem who isn't worried about wireless connection.
Review: Allow me to start out by explaining what a router is. A router is used to interconnect networks and route information between these networks. In the case of a home network. The router connects your LAN local area network to the Internet.

Ho Hum product

Date of Review:  Jul 4, 2003
The Bottom Line: It does not resolve names properly, therefore it sucks.
Review: I purchased the EtherFast Router to connect a home network of three machines to the internet over a cable modem connection. The router allows the machines within the home network to share a broadband connection. It provides local addresses to the...

Linksys EtherFast Cable/DSL Router with 4-Port Switch: Now the Whole Family is Surfing

Date of Review:  Mar 2, 2002
The Bottom Line: If you can get past the lack of guidance for Macs, this is a wonderful router for networking your computers and connecting to the Internet through one IP address.
Review: As soon as I ordered my new G4 iMac, I knew I wanted to get a router and network it with my G3 Blue and White Mac. Truthfully, I'd never actually seen a router and didn't really understand how they worked, but I knew I wanted access to our AppleTalk...

Buy it, but do your security homework

Date of Review:  Apr 30, 2002
The Bottom Line: Want to share broadband access? Want to set up a home network? This is the box!
Review: I received my Linksys 4-port Cable Router from buy.com and had the home network up and running by early evening. Cable modem access shared, printer shared, kids playing multiplayer games over TCP/IP.

Setup was painless and quick. I'm...

Slow and steady

Date of Review:  Jul 13, 2002
The Bottom Line: Simple setup, highly configurable, but slowest router I've tested. Can't handle heavy wan traffic (running a game server).
Review: This is my third review of a broadband router. Because I've been on a mission to find a fast inexpensive router that can handle my internet usage. The linksys isn't it.

I host two servers on my home network to a 768k DSL connection. One a...

Disposable Router With Poor Tech Support

Date of Review:  Jan 2, 2008
The Bottom Line: If you're lucky, you'll get one that last more than 6 months. Don't spend more than $40 on one of these.
Review: Linksys BEFSR41 v4.1 Router

I have had 3 of these routers over the last 5 years or so.
The first one lasted about 4 years until one day it slowed the connection speed of any computer connected to it down to less than that of dial-up,...

Version 3 has disconnect problem

Date of Review:  Nov 23, 2003
The Bottom Line: Do not buy version 3 until they have a firmware update available to address the disconnect problem.
Review: I purchased a brand new Linksys befsr41 version 3 router two days ago. I was pleased to hook up both computers and turn them on achieving instant internet - truly plug and play. The next day I lost internet. I'm on cable by the way. So I started...

Buy something else.

Date of Review:  Sep 2, 2002
The Bottom Line: There are much better products out there for a similar price. Linksys has an established name, but a terrible product. Look for something better.
Review: This is the first router I ever had and I replaced it after trying several others. I managed a team of technicians for a while who agreed that other units are far superior. Notably, the SMC products.

Installation is pretty easy. Just plug...
