Logitech Z4 Speakers
Date of Review: Oct 29, 2008
The Bottom Line: These high quality and stylish speakers have a fantastic wired Control Pod but fall just a bit short in sound.
I've been using the Logitech Z4 computer speakers in White/Silver for about a year now and am very happy with them. They are nicely made with stable yet stylish stands on the speakers that can be removed for wall mounting. The Subwoofer has a clean style to it as well. By far my favorite feature is the wired remote volume control with an oversized and very smooth acting volume knob with nice, linear and easy to control volume adjustment, a small bass knob with a center click, a power button, power light and jacks for Headphone out/ audio in. The remote is best velcro'd down next to your keyboard and quickly becomes indispensable.
Unfortunately, the sound doesn't live up to the quality construction and style. Bass seems OK with a relatively weak mid-to-high range. The speakers do sound OK with no interference from nearby trucks, just not as stellar as you might think by looking at them. In day to day use, the fantastic volume knob / remote makes up for it to a large degree. For most people these are a fantastic set of speakers with decent sound for a nice price. They still sound as good as the day I bought them over a year ago and the volume/bass/power controls have kept their pleasing looks, feel and smooth action. As nice as these speakers are, you probably want to look elsewhere if you're at all fussy about your music.
