Great for students AND businesses!
Date of Review: Mar 21, 2008
The Bottom Line: If you manage classes, a home, or a business, this product will keep you organized in an intuitive, effective manner.
I'm not sure why Microsoft has limited marketing of this product to students - because it is amazing for business use as well. Essentially, OneNote is a vitual notebook with "dividers" across the top and "pages" within each section. And its amazingly custom - you can go anywhere on the page (as if you had pen in hand and a notebook in front of you), scribbling notes on the side next to text you have dropped in. Or you can grab an image or information from the web and drop it into your page (it will retain the URL and link so that later all you have to do is click on the material and it will take you back to the page you found it on!).
So, I am a mom and a small business owner and I use OneNote for EVERYTHING. I have my recipes and weekly menu lists in a personal OneNote notebook, then I have several books devoted to different aspects of my business! It allows me to be creative and then organize myself after I have dumped whatever is rolling around in my brain down on the page. When I run a graphic in Excel I can copy it right onto the page in OneNote that it applies to!
Watch the quick tutorial and then play! This product is intuitive, easy and incredibly functional and effective for individuals who have a lot of irons in the fire and have to keep everything straight. Then, I have sections devoted to my business meetings where I can include minutes - and my partners and I use a file sharing product and we can all access the OneNotes in that.
Students! Hah! It's like the saying that youth is wasted on the young - OneNotes is wasted on Students - sure they can take notes, copy in information from the web and include material from their textbooks, but that's nothing compared to how I use this for both managing my home AND managing my business!
