by  manzout,  Feb 19, 2007
Pros: Ease of use, great quality, sharp pictures, nice help menu, price.
Cons: Only 3 focusing points.
Review: I had been looking at getting back into an SLR for a while now. I had previously owned an Olympus 35 mm SLR. Digital compact point and shoot took the world by storm and 35 mm took a back seat. Soon the digital technology moved into the SLR type and I ...

Epinions Great camera, excellent images

by  mr_scayf,  Mar 13, 2008
Pros: Small. Light. Easy to use. Great images.
Cons: That damned diopter.
Review: I'm not got to babble a lot of BS...but I've been shooting since I was a punk kid with a Kodak Brownie. And in the end, the only thing that matters is results. The D40 gives them. For the price (and they're getting cheaper), it's an excellent bargain. ...

Epinions The dSLR that thinks it's a point and shoot

by  solohans1,  Apr 15, 2007
Pros: Easy to use for entry level dSLR user, lens kit included, much more
Cons: D40 is bare bones for dSLR, but has the stuff for any entry level enthusiast.
The Bottom Line: I recommend this for it's ease of use and outstanding image quality. It's lightweight and looks good too!
Review: BEFORE WE BEGIN There are a lot of reviews on the web for the Nikon D40 and I will list some of the sites I recommend at the end of my review. Most of these reviews come from the perspective of a professional photographer and professional ...

Epinions Big click, little buck.

by  uberdudd328i,  Apr 11, 2007
Pros: Light. Quick. Inexpensive. Quality and quantity that won't break the bank.
Cons: Light. No top LCD. Small frame. Almost obsolete thanks to D40x.
The Bottom Line: If you don't already have a dSLR, buy this camera. Body and lens for under $600.
Review: I've been shooting with my D40 for about a month now and I have to say I'm not as disappointed as I thought I'd be. Sounds weird saying it like that, but I was planning on getting the D80. When I settled for the D40 I was afraid I'd be settling too ...

Epinions Best SLR value w/ a caveat

by  mgshn,  Dec 5, 2007
Pros: Outstanding picture quality and a goodly set of convenience features.
Cons: Tends to overexpose, loss of a star.
The Bottom Line: If you want an SLR you won't go wrong getting this camera.
Review: Without question this is the best under $500 SLR body value available today. The bundled 18-55 mm lens makes it an amazing package. Image quality is amazing and except for a small quirk noted below, the camera works well even in "Program" mode. It has ...

Epinions SLR user-friendly

by  purplemom,  Mar 28, 2008
Pros: Great SLR look and feel. Many, easy-to-use options. User friendly
Cons: Can be tricky to manually set aperture or shutter speed. D40x has more pixels.
The Bottom Line: Great for enthusiasts and eager beginners alike. I recommend it.
Review: I dithered forever before buying this camera (then of course the D40x came out and I was annoyed because I would have preferred more mega-pixels). I am or should say was a die-hard Canon user and own a little A630. I was never very happy with that ...
