Concerns Re: Speed and Ease of Use Unfounded.

Before purchasing this camera, we had gone through numerous point and clicks from both Kodak and Sony. I always found myself disappointed with the ability to take numerous shots in a short period of time as well as the quality and consistency of the photos. After asking people "in the know" about both the D40 and the Canon, I chose the D40. The camera's trial by fire came the next week at Disney World with the family. Even learning as I went, the controls were very easy to figure out. The picture quality was outstanding. I never had to wait between pictures to take the next shot and the battery after 375 photos was still more than half-charged. The software that accompanies the camera is also easy to use. We are very happy with the purchase.

After our trip we took a little more time to learn the manual-focus benefits. Sometimes the three "focus points" from which the lens chooses in auto-mode do not include your desired subject. It is well worth your time to take an extra few moments to familiarize yourself with the easy to use manual-focus mode to avoid any photo opportunities that may be missed while trying to get the auto-focus to "choose" the right subject.
