Processor too slow

by  larryhop34,   Oct 7, 2007

Pros:  Voice announcement, Touch screen

Cons:  Buggy software, limited applications, slow processor

The Bottom Line:  I will not be able to recommend this phone. It has too many problems to be reliable. Usability is low due to slow processor and limited availability of applications.

Overall Rating: 2/5 stars

I have been loyal to the Palm Brand all the way from the 180, 300, 600, and the 650.
I was looking for the windows functionality so I upgraded to this one. I was particularly interested in the Skype application and the Yahoo IM. It has be a bit of a bumpy ride.
I didn't properly research the phone before buying it. As it turns out the processor is not fast enough to run the Skype application. There is only one application for IM that will work on this phone. I have not had good luck with this IM application. It locks up the phone or terminate without you realizing that it is not running.

It has a strange bug in the software: I miss incoming calls pretty much if you do not answer the phone on the first ring. The caller will hear about 3 rings before my phone will actually ring. I have cleaned everything off the phone twice. It does help for about a week or so but it goes back to being slow again. I have not loaded any extra software on the phone so I am at a loss.
I love the touch screen of the Palm. I like the voice announcement of the incoming caller, however, I prefer to keep my phone in my pocket so it is a bit difficult to hear it.
Calculator to my disappointment has been sharply downgraded equivalent to what you would find on a cheap wrist watch.

Altogether it has been a bit of a disappointment. I am actively looking for a replacement.
