Author's Review
I bought my Treo in January after having seen the iPhone announcement. I desperately wanted proper web and email connectivity so went out and bought what I felt was the best available product.
In the first few weeks/months I was fairly happy with the Treo; it integrated well with outlook and I had emails downloaded from gmail as I received them...pretty much what I was looking for. Surfing works ok, but the screen is a bit small really...
More recently the device has begun to drive me mad. On a regular basis I am close to throwing it away in agony(!). Particularly when it 'freezes', after which I have to disconnect the battery. When reconnecting, the phone starts buzzing/ringing madly every 2 minutes or so, as if emails were being received... this continues for about 20 minutes. Also, I used to use the alarm-clock - but these days when the alarm goes off I have no way of turning it off. The pop-up window for that has disappeared. Most crucially, I regularly miss calls because of buggy/slow software. The phone does not ring immediately and the caller would often have hung up when I pick up the call. Other times, when I do pick up in time, I don't have an open line (can't hear the caller) for the first 5-6 seconds. On any other phone I've had this has always been instant.
Overall very disappointing. Never again will I have a phone with the Windows OS on it; can't wait to replace the thing - I should have done so months ago.
