Pros: Supports many DVD formats; records as well as plays; price.
Cons: None so far.
The Bottom Line: An excellent unit. Provides the ability to dub down from my TiVo and supports many DVD formats.
Review: This evening I picked up a Panasonic DMR-ES15 to replace an integrated TV/DVD unit, and what a difference this unit makes! The DMR-ES15 not only plays DVDs it records them - and it records them to almost any format including DVD_RAM; DVD-R; DVD-R DL; ...

Review: I have used the PANASONIC DMR-ES15 DVD RECORDER on a daily basis for well over a year and at least 1000 hours of recording. After dealing with 5 product returns in less than one year on a Liteon recorder, I did a lot of research and decided to spend a ...

Epinions excellent entry-level DVD recorder

by  bsmith1051,  Jun 23, 2006
Pros: excellent recordings
Cons: does not playback any 'alternate' disc formats: SVCD; mini DVD; DivX
The Bottom Line: Highly recommended, provided you are sure you don't want a hard-drive model for easy editing.
Review: The DMR-ES15S is the entry-level model for Panasonic's excellent DVD recorder series. It has the same encoder as all the other models including the top-of-the-line ES75! The only thing missing is the SD memory card slot, an integrated VCR or the ...

Epinions Pick a Format, Any Format -- DVD-RAM, DVD±R -- and Record Everything with Panasonic

by  davidmanning,  Sep 3, 2006
Pros: inexpensive, writes to multiple formats, fairly straightforward setup
Cons: not a high-end machine, video buffs; dual-layer recording isn't up to snuff
The Bottom Line: Take the plunge into recordable DVDs with this basic unit.
Review: Now that DVD recorders cost what I paid for my first DVD player years ago, I felt a little tugging from the techie side of my brain: it was time to buy one and play. The cable DVR only stores so much, and of course doesn't incorporate a DVD recorder ...

Epinions Good alternative to TIVO for cable user

by  moeringc,  Aug 10, 2007
Pros: Good VCR Replacement, Image Quality, Ease of Use, Time Shifting / Commercial Skip
Cons: Media Compatibility, Heat
The Bottom Line: This is an ideal unit for a VCR replacement with a few extra features like Time Shift TV.
Review: I bought our unit in January '07. My goal was to be able to replace a VCR and to watch delayed TV such that I could skip commercials. I am cheap, so I did not want to have any monthly service (TIVO), and I use cable so getting a box from a satellite ...

Epinions Excellent Basic DVD Recorder

by  neilkn,  Dec 28, 2006
Pros: Price, Quality, Ease of setup and use.
Cons: Flimsy disc drawer, not 100% compatible with Motorola DVR, nothing is
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this unit to friends as it is easy to use and does a great job at what it is designed for.
Review: My wife and I were in the market to buy a DVD recorder solely for the purpose of recording shows saved on our Time Warner Motorola 6416 DVR/Cable Box, so they could be removed from its hard drive to make room for more shows. We both did quite a bit of ...

Epinions Panasonic DMR-ES15 gives good Long Play performance

by  johndav,  Jul 24, 2007
Pros: good quality recordings, even on long play. will record on virtually any make or format
Cons: lightweight flap covering front ports doesn't inspire confidence
The Bottom Line: A reliable machine and one I would happily recommend to a friend.
Review: I bought this deck having read a few reviews first, I've learnt from friends' experiences that DVD recorders can be a bit of a minefield. I have to say I'm impressed with this machine. I have not put a make or format of blank DVD in that has caused the ...

Epinions Perfect entry level DVD recorder

by  dad_of_two,  Jul 6, 2007
Pros: Inexpensive and easy to use recording
Cons: Advanced editing only on DVD-RAM
The Bottom Line: Highly recommended if you want to backup your family videos, want DVD playback ability, and record some Television shows, not for you if you want advanced editing.
Review: Transfer your home videos for a lot less then a service will charge you. If you can find one of these go for it… They only have an analog receiver so they won’t get digital signal unless you have a converter when the world goes digital, but ...

Pros: Ease of use, reasonably priced, multiple formats for recording and playback
Cons: None thus far!
Review: I purchased this to record movies and tv shows. The machine was easy to set up and use. It also has options for different speeds to record and you never have to worry about buying DVD-R vs. DVD+R because it accepts both while many machines don't! All ...
