Panasonic Breadmaker
Date of Review: Jul 3, 2009
I have been using this machine for about five years now, it is very reliable and I have never had a loaf fail to make properly.
Compared to other bread makers it has very long cycle times, a disadvantage if you need a proper loaf in less than four hours. The cycle time for dough is also long and the extended timer does not work with this programme, so you cannot plan a batch of dough to be ready to make, say, a delicious pizza as soon as returning from work.
This breadmaker has a separate compartment on the lid to put fruit, seed or nuts into the dough at the correct time, this works very well, but do not overfill this compartment as the fruit could stick. I have had pieces of fruit bounce and end up on the heating element so the interior of the machine must be cleaned regularly.
The only disadvantage of this featury is that there is no viewing window, its good to have reassurance that the process is working properly!
Like all breadmakers, the bearing in the bread pan is the wakest point and will eventually seize up. With the panasonic a new base with the bearing can be purchased rather than having to buy a complete pan. Refitting the part is very simple, just putting a seal in place then securing the new base with three screws.
Overall a reliable breadmaker that does produce good results.
