I am happy to be the first to get to review this model and if you don't want to read the whole review just save your money for another model.
This unit sure looks good with the face colors and artificial metal in the faceplate. It's packed well but thats about it.
First of all the remote doesn't even come with batterys. I'm like "come on you gotta be kidding me?".
Anyway installation is straight foreward and the instructions for install and operation are brief....I mean brief. They fit on one bi folded 8.5 x 11" paper.
Moving on to operation.
Regarding the layout of the faceplate: The buttons feel cheap when pressed and sometimes they don't even work.
The song selection buttons are clear over on the right side of the faceplate, way too far to be reaching for in certain vehicles. I know, just use the remote eh? Well it didn't come with batteries so I had to try the selection buttons manually. Come on Pyle theres no reason to put the most commonly used buttons so far away. Haven't we learned anything about car stereos by now?
The display is near impossible to read due to poor back light (glare) and some funky font that sucks to try and read.
I couldnt set the clock on my unit as per instructions but it wouldn't work. When I finally did put batteries in my remote suddenly the clock was programmable. It's suppose to be programmed at the faceplate. The instructions don't even say anything about having to put batteries in the remote to program the clock so you tell me, wheres the connection here?
Song selection when advancing through tracks takes at least 10 seconds before the track starts playing and even longer sometimes.
I must admit I do like the 'any button pressed' powers the unit on feature but if were going to do that why bother with a dedicated power button on the face (left side) hogging valuable real estate, when it could have used for a track selection button grafted from the right side.
Also on that note...theres two buttons one top right and the other top left that do the exact same thing...change modes of operation.
Ok thats more wasted space, and I just cleared up room for two track selection buttons on the left side of the face plate by dealing with the last two usless buttons. Power and mode.
Hmmmm.
The tuning is ok but shouldn't it be?
Ok heres the good part ...this thing skips if you pass gas in the cab, a bird flys over your car, or if your mom drops a saltine cracker on the floor 6 miles away! Ya know I can live with all the previous crap but the skipping thingie is just unacceptable.
All the other features the item claims seem to work, but if your going to boast about them shouldn't they. For me it's not enough. I will be boxing mine up to return for a credit as soon as I send this back.
In short save your money and let Pyle eat a loss until they re-think their designing skills.
