Author's Review

Of all the B-Sim Games out there, SimTower is definitely number one. Though SimTower is one of those Sim Games made in the times of Windows 3.1, with limited capabilities, it is pretty much one of the best ones out there. SimTower was a great among others for it's time, and though it lacks the superior graphics and sounds of games today, it is still a time-honored favorite, available for purchase with other fine games in a set of Sim games for about 15 bucks American.

In SimTower, you start out with a clean slate, and few options. You start out by making a Lobby, and some primative buildings, a good choice is a set of Offices. Then, you make some Stairways and add an Elevator. You expand, with more Offices up to a Skylobby on the 15th floor. You make Fast Food Restaurants under ground, and soon you'll have more than 10 Floors of Offices, 6 Offices each. You continue, by duplicating it twice, to the sides of your current structure. Soon, you'll hear a chime, and get a 2-Star Rating. You make even more Offices, and a Security Center. Then, another chime rings in a 3-Star! You start to difersify. You make a Huge parking structure, 12 Recycling Bins, and a Medical Center. Underground, you make a row of Shops and Escillators, and some Movie Theaters and Restaurants and Party Halls! Above the ground, you expand with a Service Elevator, and reach for the 60th Floor with Condos an Hotels and more Offices bringing in Steady Income! Yet, soon you become a bit frustrated as you must lower the prices of buildings with complaining tentants, but that doesn't stop you!

Then, yet another chime rings in 4-Stars! You're on a roll, as you make a Metro Station and a Subway under your Tower! You expand higher and higher, with more Hotels and Offices and Condos as you reach for sky! After a bit of waiting, and 90 Floors later, you get a 5-Star Rating! You carefully build up those final 10 Floors, and place the crowning achievement, a Cathedral! Your tower is one of the best now. You still cannot stop, as you widen your tower with more buildings. But it all starts to slow down soon.

The incessant anger from your tenants and the constant changing of rent. You get bored with having to use the same old building styles, with no real diversification, since that is pretty much the best way to build your tower. You get frustrated at the Elevator limit, and finally decide to save, and leave.

So, you've had a few solid days of entertainment, what now? Well, eventually you should work your way back to SimTower, but you probably won't dwell on the Tower you made a few months ago, you'll probably start again, maybe using some of the Cheats, including the one for doubling your money, and the much more interesting one where you can make a 3-Story Lobby. In that one, not only does the Lobby look more elegant, but so do the Escillators on the Lobby and the Stairways. It can be really fun, but the same thing will happen again, it will get boring, and the cycle restarts. Yet, still, I must reccomend purchasing the Classic Sim Package containing SimTower. It is definitely worth the money.
