by  dkozin, lead in Electronics ,  May 31, 2007
Pros: Wide angle, 15x optical zoom with stabilization, large articulated LCD, features, sturdy
Cons: Proprietary memory, price, size
The Bottom Line: I recommend Sony DSC-H9 if you want an 8.1MP camera with good optics, wide angle, 15x optical stabilized zoom that has a 3-inch articulated screen...
Review: A significant update on the 7 .2-Megapixel Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H5, the 8.1-Megapixel Sony CyberShot DSC-H9 improves in several aspects, including resolution, zoom and wide angle capabilities. It also uses a proprietary ...

Epinions Whoa, this is a smokin' hot camera! But is it too much for some?

by  criteeker,  Sep 21, 2007
Pros: Many features including image stabilization, night shot, face recognition, many shooting modes and more
Cons: None really, other than Sony proprietary batteries and filters are quite expensive.
The Bottom Line: This feature-packed workhorse is perfect for the digital enthusiast or the amateur photographer. Professionals should seek out a digital SLR.
Review: It was like something out of a silent-era Buster Keaton film. I was at my daughter's dance recital and I brought along my six year old Olympus 3.3 megapixel camera. Just as I dropped the lens cap, some kid stepped on it - CRACK! As I was picking it ...

Epinions A camera worth looking at should last for the next 5 years

by  quepeter,  May 15, 2007
Pros: Infrared nightshot, face recognition,15x optical to 78x with digital zoom, 3200 iso, optical image stabilization
Cons: Only 8.1 Mega Pixel, uses proprietory batteries.
The Bottom Line: Great camera, buy this model H9 instead of the H7. Also get an extra battery and high speed memory stick, around 2 gig is good for starters.
Review: Bought this camera May 07, now it's December 07 and never failed me, the pictures are very good since I have gotten to know what the camera is capable of and adjust accordingly. This camera can be fully automatic or totally manual. I was looking for a ...

Epinions Very impressed

by  deniss04428,  Jan 10, 2008
Pros: Fast shutter reaction, tilting LCD display, good video quality
Cons: power on button, zoom button, and mode button to easy to change accidentally.
The Bottom Line: It is not for everybody. Maybe this should be your special camera and have a mini camera for your primary camera or vice versa.
Review: I had used a Sony DSC-S75 for at least 6 1/2 years. I carried it in a pouch on my belt when I hiked or traveled. Most of the time it lived in my back pack. It still had the original battery and over 5400 photos. So when it failed to work one day, maybe I ...

Review: I was looking for a good digital camera for the last 6 months. Finally I found SONY CYBER SHOT DSC H9 and PANASONIC DMC FZ18 was excellent. I decided to go for Sony DSC H9.I went for this mainly because of night mode and 15 xs zoom. The picture quality ...

Review: My wife and I got the DSC-H9 last week, finally retiring our 3.0M Cybershot. We printed off 30 or so pics yesterday, and we were very disappointed. We are not professional photographers, but we do take lots of pics, and we were expecting very clear ...

Epinions Cyber-shot DSC-H9 has major design flaws

by  lotsacameras,  May 30, 2008
Pros: LCD screen is great. Camera is light. Menu is easy to use.
Cons: Need high speed memory stick for movies. No adaptors to rectify engineering flaws.
Review: I have an 18 month old Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H9. I also called the factory within 30 days of purchase explaining to a speaker of English their design flaws and asking for some way to correct them. No response. 1) The camera takes a picture of the adaptor ...
