Alot of camera and versatility in a small package
Date of Review: Jul 15, 2008
The Bottom Line: This camera incorporates a lot of nice features and ergonomic design in a small package, and it takes great pics.
I've had this camera for about 1 month now. It's very feature rich for a camera this size. For the specs, it's a 10 megapixel camera, with 5X optical zoom, and built-in optical image stabilization. It uses the Memory Stick Duo format flash memory card. It comes in 4 colors, silver, black, gold and pink.
Here's what I like about it.
1. Takes very nice pictures.
2. The controls are far more intuitive then the competing Canon Elph series. As you spin the dial (vs. Elphs have all push button controls) you get symbols and words (unlike the Elph's symbols only) on the screen telling you what mode you are in.
3. It's a nice compact size. Fits very easily in the pocket.
4. Has a nice big 5X zoom lens for it's size.
5. Nice big LCD Screen.
6. Takes pictures that can be natively displayed on an HDTV.
7. Provides cables to show pics directly onto a HDTV from the camera, including slide show mode with several background music choices.
8. In video mode, has several choices, including 640 x 480 at 30 frames per second.
9. Smile Shutter. The camera actually senses when someone smiles, and then shoots the picture.
There is only 1 drawback I know of. It's that when you are shooting a video, it won't continuously auto focus. The focus you start at is what you get throughout the video.
In actual use, usually I just leave it on full auto, unless a specific difficult to shoot scene, like at the beach or in the snow is being done, then I use one of those preset scene modes the camera provides.
