The perfect compact camera
Date of Review: Jul 7, 2009
I'd like to think I know a little bit about photography - I'm no pro, but I've been using SLR cameras for 10 years now and photography is my passion. So, when I went shopping for a camera to slip in my pocket for events, concerts, festivals etc, I had a very clear idea of what I wanted and what constituted a good camera. With a budget a budget of 200, I looked through a whole range of different cameras - there was only one choice for me and after using it for 5 weeks now, I'm delighted with my choice. Here's why:-
Resolution - most cameras now have 10mp+, and really unless you're printing on bigger than A3, this is going to do you. At 13.6mp, this is more than enough.
Lens - the Sony Cybershot camera's come with a Carl Zeiss Lens and as a result, the quality of the photo is in general, excellent. Only complaint is that it only has a 3 times optical zoom and isn't very wide angel.
Photo quality - I've tried the camera in a wide range of different circumstances and it delivers I'm delighted with the results. Colours are vibrant, it has an excellent contrast range, and is great with both landscapes and skin tones.
Operation - the camera it exceptionally comfortable and quick to handle with all the controls in the right place and easily understandable and accessible.
Manual controls - one of the few cameras at this price range that offers fully manual controls at this price range.
Screen - bright screen with lots of information (if you want) and can be seen clearly, even in bright light.
Overall, a great camera.
