Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W300 Digital Camera
Date of Review: Feb 16, 2009
The Bottom Line: It is awesome ultra-compact model that features excellent low-light performance. I appreciate the options of manual control over exposure and other settings.
My husband brought ‘Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W300’ a few months back. In fact this was our first digital camera. The W300 is Sony's top W-Series digicam, has a 13.6 megapixel sensor, high speed burst mode, ISO 6,400, and real color mode. It includes face detection technology. It is capable of detecting up to eight faces simultaneously, apart from this it differentiates between adults and children.
The Sony W300 offers a few other special tweaks, including a titanium shell that resists scratching. Despite some rough treatment, it still looks brand new. But it only has a 3x optical zoom and cannot zoom in Movie mode. I admire the W-Series for its powerful technologies wrapped up in an attractive shell.
Turning the camera on or off is quite simple and can be done in two ways.
1. Press the tiny Power button, that sits slightly below the level of top deck, to get into Record mode. Or
2. Press the tiny Playback button on the back panel to get into Playback mode without extending the lens.
The Sony W300 is well balanced: It isn't heavy, but it isn't light either!!
It’s worth considering this if you are interested in high-resolution compact camera and do not require a big zoom lens. I recommend this with enthusiasm, and you'll be glad you have it, I promise!!!
