Great overlooked product

Date of Review:  Sep 8, 2006
Review: I'll admit it: I bought this mainly on price and reviews I read here. $200 for a 20GB player. Done.

I can't be happier. The battery life is excellent, the sound quality is as good as your headphones, the case feels solid, and the interface...

Boycotting Sony because of this player

Date of Review:  Mar 5, 2006
The Bottom Line: Stay away!
Review: I bought this player last October as a replacement for my 20gig Creative Zen Touch. It was the biggest mistake I have ever made in a electronic purchase. I really enjoy my creative labs player and thought that all of the players would operate...

Quality product!

Date of Review:  Jul 29, 2005
The Bottom Line: Easily beats the iPod in sound quality and matches storage and portability. Use of other Sony remotes saves you some dough. highly recommended
Review: We're not going to give out info easily found via Sony or various online website factsheets which we armed ourselves with before buying this product, but instead will address details not usually discussed or even discovered by others yet.

Finally an iPod Challenger (Very good with some bad)

Date of Review:  Jul 1, 2005
Review: After finally waiting for a Sony (or any MP3 hard drive) unit that allowed battery replacement, this comes along. One of the smallest for it's size, the NW-HD5 offers the best sound among it's competitors, long battery life, Sony quality, while...

Little gadget that plays music... and does little else

Date of Review:  Jul 18, 2005
The Bottom Line: Excellent mp3 player, but look elsewhere if you want more features on your digital audio player. Software could be improved.
Review: I have to admit, when I first saw this successor to the NW-HD3, I wasn't impressed by its looks. In the flesh, however, it looks much nicer. I have the black version, and it looks quite classy. (Red and Silver versions are also available.)The casing...

Smallest, Lightest, Strongest

Date of Review:  Jul 16, 2005
The Bottom Line: Smallest, Lightest, Longest Battery Life (removable!), plus it looks cute. No other portable unit can match its strengths at the time of this writing.
Review: Let's get the important things out of the way:

The NW-HD5 is the smallest and lightest MP3 player of its class; HDD-based with 20gig capacity. Aesthetic-wise, its size and slick casing coating helps it to be even cuter than any other...

One Giant rolls over another Giant. Think Different.

Date of Review:  Aug 20, 2005
The Bottom Line: A superb, yet expensive alternative to the hard to beat iPods. Much lighter and smaller than iPods, and to me sound better too! Good stuff.
Review: I will try to give my first impressions as well as my long term feelings about the NWHD-5, which may have not been already said here by other reviewers, i.e. poor Sonic Stage, etc.

I bought the Sony basically on the research I've done on...

Sony Walkman

Date of Review:  Oct 6, 2007
The Bottom Line: An excellent player that doesn't breakdown and will hold pretty much all collections no matter how large.
Review: This player is a genuine contender for the Ipod. I got mine a few years ago in Singapore when it first came out. Though it says it only holds 5000 songs, that is in MP3 format, if you use the Atrac format provided you can get around 13000 songs on...

Great Player, SonicStage could be better

Date of Review:  Oct 11, 2005
The Bottom Line: Until high capacity flash based players totally overtake HD based players, this is the best option, by far.
Review: This is my first Hard Drive based player. I seriously considered buying an iPod Nano instead, but ultimately the additional cost of accessories such as a power adapter turned me back to the Sony NW-HD5 player. I've been playing with the player and...

A hardware masterpiece of art, with a software piece of crap!!!

Date of Review:  Aug 21, 2005
Review: The Sony NW HD5 is really easy and fast to review:

A HARDWARE MASTERPIECE OF ART WITH A SOFTWARE PIECE OF CRAP!!!

If it could run Itunes, Musicmatch, or any other software rather tan SonicStage, this would be the best music...
