With all the portable gaming devices out there today, the PSP Has to be the best looking portable gaming machine out there today. The coolness factor strikes you from the start and looks like a futuristic gadget. With the new WiFi its very easy to also go online via your Broadband if you have a wireless router. The setup is simple, just type in the information about the network with passwords and your online. You may have to look on the back of your router and know what Encryption type your network is set to though. With that done, you can now update the firmware which must have at least 23mb memory stick included to work. After I stuck in a 2 GB Stick , I Quickly updated and turned on another new feature turning my psp into a radio player! how cool? You can also load pictures, music and movies onto it with the addition of UMD Full length movies the choices are endless. Putting your own videos on the PSP Can be a bit tricky as the PSP Uses MP4 Format and the file must be transcoded. I used PSP Video 9 while remembering to set the max resolution to 320x240 and screen size of 480x272 thus stretching the image but still looks good. If you use the Native resolution of 480x272 your video will get an error of "This video cannot be played". Sony probably did this to save space as it has no HD. After thats done, just make a VIDEO Folder and drag the new encoded file in. While this device may not be the smallest portable out there its the only device that lets you game, play music, listen to net radio, surf the net via wifi, watch umd or your own videos and store pictures.
A great device at under $200 . Awesome.
