An Interview with a PSP
Pros:
+multimedia +good graphics +solid library +online connectivity
Cons:
-feels fragile -still no second analog -load times -fragile screen
The Bottom Line:
The PSP 2000 is sleeker than the original, but I don't recommend getting this model if you already have the original because the upgrades are only aesthetics.

Author's Review
PSP: Well well well, look who's come crawling back to me after a few years. What's the matter Timmy, did the DS dump ya?
el_timmy: Whoa, what the heck? I see you've lost a bit of weight there PSP. You look slimmer and smoothed out.
PSP:That's PSP 2000 to you and yes I have lost weight. My UMD drive is a bit loose though.
el_timmy: That doesn't really look that sturdy. It looks a bit fragile to me. I guess it's less of a problem with getting dust stuck in your UMD drive.
PSP: So why did you leave me in the first place?
el_timmy: Uhhh...I needed the money?
PSP: Don't you lie to me you. Was it my game library? My dead pixels I got on my fragile screen? Or was it that I didn't have a second analog stick?
el_timmy: Well, it was just that you were so costly at the time I bought you and I was tired of waiting for something else good to play besides Lumines. I felt like you were using me. Friends poked fun at my relationship with a $250.00 Tetris playing machine. But now, you've changed.
PSP: Oh really?
el_timmy:Yes you have changed. You are slimmer. You have brighter screen, louder built in audio speakers, more comfortable analog stub and you can even hook yourself up to a tv for video output. You are substantially more affordable now pricing anywhere from $100.00-$199.99. When I saw you for only $115.00 behind the windows of the pawn shop I couldn't resist.
PSP: Oh I see, you bought me because I was cheap?
el_timmy: NO! NO! Your library expanded and diversified, which is great. I see many titles now, not just a handful of racing and puzzle games. Not that theirs anything wrong with that. You know I love role playing games and I not only see that you have some new titles like Final Fantasy Advent Children and Jeanne d'Arc, but ported some of my favorites like Final Fantasy Tactics, Disgaea and Star Ocean.
It's just that the one criticism I had before about you is that a lot of your games weren't original. A majority were ports, spin-offs or remakes of old Playstation and Playstation 2 titles. In a way it's a safe way to establish a solid library for the PSP as those titles are most likely to be recognized by veteran gamers.
PSP: What's the matter Timmy, don't you enjoy classics franchises such as Tekken, Metal Gear Solid, Burnout, God of War, Street Figh.....
el_timmy: I do like those franchise and I don't mind having portable versions of those games. It's just that I've played all of those games before and I'm looking for something with some originality.
PSP:Oh silly Timmy, have you not heard of games like Patapon, Loco Roco, DJ Max Portable, Brave New Story and Dead Head Fred?
el_timmy: Oh yeah, I've almost completely forgotten about those titles. Thanks PSP.
I've noticed that you still have the same control layout. Your two shoulder buttons feel a bit sturdier. You still have the square, circle, cross and triangle on the right side of the PSP and a D-pad and analog stub on the left. I've also noticed the you have a home button, that brings you back to the main menus of the PSP, a start and select button, volume buttons, and buttons that control screen brightness and muting. You still have your headphone jack, which is great for listening to your games if your on the go, but you do make for a clunky mp3 player. As for a video player, you serve pretty well with your approximately 5x2.5 inches screen.
PSP: Go on.
el_timmy:PSP, you are a worthy rival for Nintendo's domination on the hand held market with the Gameboy and DS. PSP, you have a technical edge on the DS. You provide the best graphics and sound quality for portable gaming. As a multimedia device, you do serve those purposes, but it does feel a bit average at best. Maybe if you had an internal hard drive, I'd use you more for other media.
PSP: ..............
el_timmy: Alright, you're fine just the way you are. *mumbles* Pretentious piece of......
PSP: What was that?
el_timmy: Nothing, I've said nothing.
